Reviews for Aberlour Bolthole & Aberlour Retreat - Speyside Holiday Cottages

'Aberlour Bolthole' was called 'Aberlour Cottage' before we acquired the ajoining 'Aberlour Retreat'. Therefore these reviews refer to what is now 'Aberlour Bolthole'. Curent reviews for each cottage can be found on 'airbnb' & Tripadvisor's 'holidaylettings'.

We stayed at Aberlour Cottage during April as a base for a weeks fishing on the Spey. The cottage is ideally located in the charming town of Aberlour. It is a short walk to local restaurants and shops yet enjoys seclusion and is in a very quiet area. The cottage is lovely, has a good kitchen, and a cosy living room with a log burner. The bedrooms were quiet and the beds comfy. The bathroom is modern with a lovely powerful shower and bath. After a long cold day standing in middle of the river it was the ideal place to warm up and unwind before heading out the fabulous 'Mash Tun' whiskey bar and restaurant, located 2 minutes walk away. Many thanks to Stella and her family for accommodating all our needs. We have had a lovely time and hope to be back soon!!

Location excellent for riverside and woodland walks in beautiful scenery. Cottage is well presented and thoughtfully and comfortably equipped, with many welcoming touches. Interesting shops and good places to eat out (and well equipped for eating in too.) Plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. While coombed ceilings in bedrooms require a small amount of agility, we 'oldies' managed fine and the beds are very comfortable.

A really comfortable cottage with everything we needed, very well appointed. Stella left a good welcome pack which was much appreciated as some of our party had travelled from South Africa and were quite tired.
We can recommend the Mash Tun pub, just 2 minutes walk, good beer and more whisky than you could possibly try and good food too.
The local shops have all you could need, the Coop and the Deli are good for food supplies.
For those of an energetic nature the Speyside Way is also 2 minutes away - good for walking and running.
For Whisky tasting there are all the famous names within a short drive but we would recommend the local Aberlour distillery - a good tour and a tutored tasting (5 tasters) for a very reasonable cost and its within walking distance for the drivers in the party.
